In past years I used cut bait when trolling for salmon and trout. I had great fishing success, but hated the excessive preparation, care, and costs required in using actual herring strips.
|
At this year’s fishing show I was introduced to a new innovative product called BTB. Wow, how simple it is to use! I just pin the bait strip into the head, glow it up, dip it into a jar of herring oil, and lower it into the water.

My fishing results using BTB have been excellent! Even after two plus hours of trolling, I was amazed I didn’t need to reapply the herring oil – the scent was still noticeably trapped under the bait head. Also, I’m still fishing the same originally purchased BTB bait strips - GOTTA LIKE THAT……no more hassles with cut bait and it’s deterioration factor!
Thanks Big Water Tackle for Better Than Bait !!!

For the last two years I have had the pleasure of testing one of the most innovative products to hit the salmon market in years.
If you use cut bait then you might want to listen up. This year Big Water Tackle put BTB on the market. BTB is a great substitute for cut bait. I know you guys are probably saying nothing will replace real bait. That’s where you guys are wrong. With real bait it must be refrigerated, cured, and soaked in herring oil. Besides all of these things, have you ever seen a piece of real bait glow? Probably not but BTB does. Other than glowing brilliantly it is made of a tough material that is more resilient than real bait. I’ve caught up to ten kings on one piece of BTB where, with real bait, you are lucky to get up to two kings without having to replace the real bait. As for catching more fish on real bait we ran BTB against real bait last year and there was days where BTB out fished real bait 2-1. Not only does BTB catch kings but we also have taken browns, lakers, and even walleye.
I’ve personally tested this product in some of the best salmon hot spots in the country. It’s been tested in Oswego, NY, Frankfort, MI., Rogers City, MI., and my home port Black River, MI., just to name a few. We consistently caught kings on lake Huron where it seems everyone else has totally given up on lake Huron. I have been a field tester and a pro staffer for Big Water Tackle for the past five years. I know you guys are probably thinking this guy is just trying to promote a product but last year, our team consistently won tournament after tournament. If you just give it a try I think that you, too, will consistently put more fish in your cooler.
